DELTA is a globally-recognised, advanced qualification for experienced English language teachers – accredited by Cambridge English, part of the University of Cambridge. It takes serious dedication, passion and a commitment to continued professional development, which is why the qualification is so highly-regarded across the world and attractive to educational institutions in the field.
There are three modules you must pass to be DELTA-qualified. Module 3 concentrates on developing your English language teaching specialism.
Although the course is part-time, it is very intensive. You should ensure that you have the strength, space and mental capacity to take on the challenge.

Extending Practice and ELT Specialism
Develop your knowledge in relation to the ELT specialism
Critically understand and apply principles of ELT curriculum and syllabus design to a cohort of learners
Design and implement syllabuses and courses in relation to specialism
Understand and implement methods of assessment in relation to specialism
Present a coherent account of your project
English Language Teaching Management (ELTM)
Develop your knowledge in relation to your chosen management specialism
Critically understand management principles and procedures and their application
Develop awareness of the interdependence of management areas
Understand and propose a change to your chosen management specialism
Present a coherent account of your project
EXTENDED RESEARCH-BASED ASSIGNMENT
Conducting classroom research.
Our highly-experienced Delta tutors will support you as you develop your extended research-based written assignment through constant 1-to-1 interaction and feedback. This will focus on developing your chosen specialism.
It is not a requirement of the scheme that you actually teach the group, but in some cases, it is highly desirable. Conducting needs analysis with 1:1 students or groups of teachers or young learners, for example, generally requires repeated meetings and observations, so regular access is a prerequisite.
Extending Practice and ELT Specialism options
The module focuses on broadening the candidates’ knowledge of a chosen specialism and developing their understanding of syllabus design, testing and assessment.

Teaching young learners/young adults (specified age group required with 5-year range for example. 8–13, 14–19) (YL)
English for Special Purposes (ESP)
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
Teaching examination classes (EX)
Teaching one-to-one (1 to 1)
ESOL learners with literacy needs (ESOL)
CLIL/Embedded ESOL (teaching English through subject/work-based learning) (CLIL)
Teaching monolingual classes (MON)
Teaching multilingual classes (MUL)
Teaching in an English-speaking environment (ESE)
Teaching in a non-English-speaking environment. (NESE)
Teaching learners online/through distance/blended learning (DL)
Teaching English to learners with special requirements e.g. visual/hearing impairment, dyslexia, ASD (SR)
Language development for teachers (LDT)
Language support (e.g. on mainstream teaching programmes, specialist skills support, such as supporting writing needs) (LS)
English Language Teaching Management option
English Language Teaching Management (ELTM) focuses on broadening candidates’ knowledge and developing their understanding of management in one of the following four specialisms: academic management, marketing, customer service or human resources management (HRM).
You are required to apply knowledge of managing change and project management to a proposal in your chosen specialism related to a specified language teaching operation (LTO).
Please note that:
Candidates who select ELTM as their specialism for the Delta Module Three need to have access to a language teaching operation (LTO) e.g. a language school or institution.
They also need to consider how they will have access to the data/information they will need in order to proceed with their proposal.
Candidates who choose this ELTM option should ideally have experience of working as an academic manager (such as programme manager, DoS/ADoS), or in a similar managerial role within an LTO.
